Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about connecting TradingView alerts to NinjaTrader 8 with ApostleAlgo.

What is ApostleAlgo?

ApostleAlgo is a TradingView-to-NinjaTrader 8 bridge. It receives authorized TradingView webhook alerts and delivers them to the ApostleAlgo Windows client, which writes the corresponding order files for NinjaTrader.

How do I get started?

Sign in to your dashboard, generate an access key, download the ApostleAlgo Windows client, and follow the setup guide to enable NinjaTrader's Automated Trading Interface.

How do I connect TradingView?

Generate an access key to receive a private webhook URL. Copy that URL into the TradingView alert's webhook field, then use the message generator in your dashboard to create the JSON alert message.

How many NinjaTrader accounts can I use?

Each alert can target up to 10 NinjaTrader accounts using the account1 through account10 fields. Account names must match the names shown in NinjaTrader exactly.

What order types and features are supported?

ApostleAlgo supports market actions, quantities, previous-position closing, ATM strategies, OCO orders, limit prices, stop prices, strategy fields, and position management fields supported by the desktop client.

Where can I find my raw access key again?

Your encrypted raw key can be viewed from the Manage desktop panel after you sign in. Keep it private because anyone with the key may be able to authenticate a desktop client.

Can I replace an access key?

Yes. Delete your existing key from the Manage desktop panel, then generate a replacement. Deleting a key also invalidates its associated desktop sessions and order access.

Does the desktop client open a port on my computer?

No. The client connects outbound to ApostleAlgo over HTTPS/WSS and writes authorized orders to NinjaTrader's incoming directory. It does not expose a local HTTP service.

What happens if NinjaTrader or the desktop client is offline?

The server keeps accepted webhook messages in its delivery queue. Start NinjaTrader and the desktop client again, confirm the client is connected, and review the client logs before sending new alerts.

What should I do if a webhook or access key is exposed?

Delete the exposed access key immediately and generate a replacement. If only the webhook URL is exposed, rotate the webhook from the admin dashboard and update the corresponding TradingView alert.

Does ApostleAlgo guarantee fills or profitability?

No. ApostleAlgo is an automation bridge, not a broker or investment adviser. Market conditions, broker behavior, NinjaTrader state, network conditions, permissions, and strategy logic can all affect execution.
